Longwood Commissioner and former TNA/Impact wrestler Matt Morgan with wrestling legend Hulk Hogan.

TNA/Impact Wrestling alumni Matt Morgan was elected to the Longwood City Commission this past fall, now he wants his buddy Hulk Hogan to run for US Senate.

Weeks after Trump adviser Roger Stone told a packed crowd at the Tiger Bay Club of Central Florida that he was urging wrestling legend Hulk Hogan to run against Rick Scott, Patrick Slevin’s in-depth interview with Stone has reignited talk of a Hogan vs Scott primary campaign.

In the 48 hours since Slevin’s interview went live on his website The Influential, the Washington Post, Fox News, The Hill, and dozens of publications around the world have covered Stone’s push to get Hogan into the race.

He would primary Florida Governor Rick Scott, who has all but made it official that he plans to challenge longtime incumbent Senator Bill Nelson in 2018. Until now, Scott has faced no major opposition within the GOP establishment, but Hulk Hogan (Terry Bollea) is not part of the GOP establishment.

A decades-long Florida resident and possibly the most recognizable professional wrestler in the world, Hogan has long been a generous giver to charitable causes and is known as a strong community builder.

His path to victory is not as hard as you might think, even going up against a two-term Governor with tens of millions in personal wealth to underpin his efforts. Even the mere mention of him being urged to run spawned dozens of articles around the state, and quick hits during nightly news programs from Pensacola to Miami.

The ability to get millions of dollars in earned media and utilizing his immense social media following would jumpstart a potential Senate bid from Hogan, and one of his former collaborators thinks he should go for it.

Matt Morgan and Hogan often appeared together during TNA/Impact wrestling storylines, almost always at each other’s throats. However, Morgan said they became good friends and he hopes that Terry gives it a go.

“I think it would be great,” Morgan stated in a text message while on vacation with his family.

The 7-foot three hundred pound wrestler upset establishment politicians in Longwood, Florida when he won by double digits this past November. He ran on a platform of ridding career politicians from elected office and improving conditions/pay for police and firefighters.

“America is sick and tired of career and professional politicians holding office. Bringing Hulkamania to the US Senate would keep people honest.”

For now, Hogan told TMZ last night that a US Senate run it is not on the table… not yet. If he did run, Hulk said he would win and run as a Republican.
