Lifelong Lake County resident and current Eustis Commissioner Anthony Sabatini will run in the GOP primary for House District 32 in 2018, according to the News Service of Florida.

Sabatini has without a doubt been the most vocal and effective Commissioner on the Eustis City Commission, earning national recognition for defending Confederate veterans monuments and property rights.

A review of his votes while on the City Commission show that he has not voted a single time for a tax increase, fee, or revenue increase since being elected in 2016 to a two-year term.

Sabatini was also the leading voice to keep religious invocations during city meetings and sponsored a plan to allow gun retailers the right to sell firearms in the town square. Lake County News has branded Sabatini a “political superhero” for his aggressive and successful approach on the City Commission.

A campaign release provided to the Central Florida Post said that Mr. Sabatini was “severely disappointed” with the current candidates filed for the seat, and would fight for traditional American values against dangerous political correctness.

“The swamp doesn’t just exist in Washington DC—you’ll find it right here in our State Capitol. And it is holding our state back from moving forward on major issues like education, healthcare, economic development and quality of life.”

His Republican primary opponents, Shannon Elswick and Monica Wofford, are relying on out-of-town political consultants with deep ties to the establishment “Never Trump” forces within the Republican Party to guide their campaign.

According to Sabatini, he is firmly behind President Trump’s agenda and would follow his no-nonsense approach if elected to the Florida House of Representatives.

“We need authentic leaders who are not afraid to take on the establishment. No more career politicians. I will refuse to partake in the Florida retirement system as a state representative.”

Sabatini continued, by making it clear that his campaign is not about self-enrichment or ego.

“This is not about a fat pension or revolving door paychecks at a cushy lobbying firm following my public service. It is about putting the needs of Floridians first, something I have done consistently as an officer in the Florida National Guard and as a lifelong resident of Lake County.”
