Florida Lt. Governor Carlos Lopez-Cantera, GOP rising star and fundraising powerhouse, is getting behind businessman Scott Sturgill in Florida’s 7th congressional district.

“Scott Sturgill has a proven record of success in the private sector and this experience will serve him well when he represents the residents of Central Florida in Congress.” Republican Lopez-Cantera said of Sturgill, the former Board Chair of the Greater Sanford Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Lopez-Cantera served in the Florida House of Representatives before becoming Lt. Governor and will help Sturgill secure key donors before fundraising reports are due in October.

“Lt. Governor Lopez-Cantera is one of our great conservative leaders, I am happy to have his support as I seek to return CD7 to Republican control.” Sturgill said.

The endorsement from Lopez-Cantera is one of many to be released from the Sturgill campaign in the coming weeks, according to our sources.

Republicans narrowly lost the seat in 2016, which was held by John Mica for years and includes all of Seminole County, with a very tiny segment of Orange County.

Sturgill is a Sanford based businessman and fourth generation Seminole County native.
