If you want to spend more money, and support huge corporations that kill communities, go to a big retailer. If you want to save a bundle of bucks while your guitar gets a far more personal touch, go local.

It may seem a bit strange, but most guitar players don’t always enjoy taking their inevitable trips to Guitar Center and Sam Ash. There are always at least two people having an amp war, turning their volume knobs until they’re past eleven.
Every commission driven salesperson that walks by you has to say something. The worst of it all is the guy who sits in the corner, eyeing the entire store to see who’s watching him play that sweet Eddie Van Eruption solo…which is incredibly simple to play.
Unfortunately, the two major stores share a stronghold in most cities, including those in Central Florida. The seeming monopoly of guitar sales also extends to a seeming monopoly on the routine repairs that guitars require.
For the past few months however, the minds at Strings & Circuits, a new guitar repair shop, have been providing local, and far better, services for Central Florida’s six-stringers.
A long time guitar tech for one of the aforementioned stores, Richie Poccia set up shop a few months ago, and it was a great move to make. Richie is the kind of guy who can tell you everything from the magnetic patterns of pick-up heights, to what made a ’57 Les Paul so special.
He knows his craft better than anyone I’ve met.
The service from Strings & Circuits is the quickest I’ve ever experienced, which is a huge plus. Typically the worst part of dropping a guitar off is the wait to get it back, usually a week or so, but Strings & Circuits had my guitar finished and perfectly fine tuned in literally less than a day.
The prices are incredibly fair, a fraction of what massive shops charge. Their special $30 setups are easily the best deal in town. Every guitar is individually attended to by a set of experienced hands. While Strings & Circuits are quicker and cheaper, most important of all is the fact that they’re local.
