A neighborhood guide to living near Lake Nona.

By Jennifer Norman

While many areas in and around Orlando are growing and thriving, Lake Nona is arguably the fastest and most sought development right now. A combination of high-end construction, shopping and great schools have people from all the city and state looking to make the move here.

Apartment Living:

If luxury living without the upkeep of a house sounds like your style, you will feel right at home with the other residents who choose to live in apartments here.

Most communities in the area have been recently built with upgraded features both in and around the apartment homes. Below are some of the features you can expect to find:

Gourmet kitchens with granite or stone countertops and stainless steel appliances

• Wood-style flooring

• Double vanity sinks in the Master Bathroom

• Energy Efficient and/or green appliances

• 9 Foot+ High Ceilings

• Technology upgrades such as USB outlets and free community WiFi

• 24 Hours Fitness Studios offering fitness classes

You’ll find that most apartment communities in Orlando will include a pool, but apartments near this area take it to the next level.

Colonial Grand at Randal Lakes.

Expect to find yourself sitting resort-style with palm tree-lined pools, cabanas, lanais and outdoor grilling space like the one featured here at Colonial Grand Randal Lakes, an apartment community close by.

Where You’ll Find Residents Over the Weekend….

• Lake Nona Golf & Country Club:

For over 25 years, Lake Nona Golf & Country Club has played host to residents and international members at its championship golf course. If not everyone in the family likes to play the game, they can sit and relax at the pool, get a workout at the fitness center or enjoy the outdoors with its various nature trails and parks.

• Orlando Music Productions:

If you or your kids like to sing, act, dance or play music, check out recently opened Orlando Music Productions. They even feature an impressive live recording studio.

• Lake Nona Town Center:

While it’s still in its development stage, this new addition will bring exclusive shopping, dining and entertainment options to the area. With over 3.5 million SF at build out, the town center will be a hot spot for all residents to enjoy

• USTA National Campus:

Also under construction and slated to be completed late this year, this 100-court tennis facility will host young budding players and tennis pros alike. Even recreational players can come and play with state-of-the-art equipment planned to strengthen the game at every level.

Travel Options –

If you travel for work or for fun, you’ll find this area of town great for getting to and from Orlando International Airport, located just northeast of Lake Nona. Residents also take State Road 417 as a main thoroughfare which provides a connection to 1-4.

Business Community –

The business community here might as well be called the medical community too. With several research and educational centers such as UCF College of Medicine and Health Sciences Campus, Nemours Children’s Hospital and UF’s Research and Academic Center, it’s no wonder the city has grown by over 48,000 residents in 15 short years.

With the addition of USTA, the Town Center and airport nearby, similar growth is expected in the years to come, expanding job growth right along with it.

If you are looking to make a move to Orlando and don’t mind a higher price tag and trek to downtown, check out apartments in or near the Lake Nona & nearby Narcoosee area.
