The former Arkansas governors campaign had a promising showing at the Florida Taxpayer Summit Straw Poll.

Last week, the Florida Taxpayers Union and Ax The Tax hosted former Congressman Barry Goldwater, Jr. for a dinner and meet and greet with anti-tax advocates.
Before Goldwater’s speech to the crowd of almost 100, Seminole County Supervisor of Elections Michael Ertel oversaw a GOP presidential straw poll – along with a vote on who should be Florida’s GOP US Senate nominee should be.
Seasoned operative Gregory Fournier was running a table for Governor Huckabee’s campaign and was seen working the room on the governor’s behalf. At the conclusion of the dinner, Seminole County elections chief Mike Ertel announced that Huckabee won the straw poll with close to 27% of the vote.
While Huckabee’s uber conservative stances on social issues are a big problem for me, it seems the newly minted Florida resident and former Governor could have a pocket of support in the all important I-4 corridor.
