A Florida Taxpayers Summit event celebrating “50 Years Of Conservative Action”, will be sponsored by the Florida Taxpayers Union & Ax The Tax, and feature former congressman and conservative icon Barry Goldwater, Jr. It will be held Thursday from 5-7pm at the Rosen Centre hotel on International Drive. More information here.

“This event will through down the gauntlet for any moves in the legislature toward increasing taxes in the next session,” stated Keith Recine, President of FTU. “We’ll be ready,” he concluded. “Ax the Tax is pleased to join with our ally, the Florida Taxpayers Union in sponsoring the Florida Taxpayers Summit – 50 years of Conservative Action with former US Congressman Barry Goldwater, Jr. It is great to have an iconic figure like Congressman Goldwater here in Florida fighting the battle his late father began in 1964.”

Florida Taxpayers Union is Florida’s largest taxpayer advocacy group. It was established in 2006 with help of then former Florida House Speaker Marco Rubio, to represent taxpayers in the halls of Tallahassee and other governmental entities. Over 100,000 Florida taxpayers have signed up with FTU on it’s opt in email list. Affiliated with the National Taxpayers Union (NTU.org), the nation’s largest taxpayer advocacy group, FTU works in concert with NTU on issues affecting Florida taxpayers.

Ax the Tax was founded by Florida’s pre-eminent anti-tax crusader Doug Guetzloe in 1982. Since that time Ax the Tax has become the nation’s foremost anti-tax committee having helped taxpayers in Florida and five other states defeat over $55.5 billion in proposed taxes. With a 19-2 win/loss record at the ballot box, Ax the Tax strikes fear into the souls of tax and spend bureaucrats and their political bosses. Barry Goldwater, Jr. is the son of the legendary founder of the conservative wing of the Republican party.

With Arizona Senator Barry Goldwater’s nomination in 1964, the battle for the heart and soul of the Republican party began across the nation. Ronald Reagan did his legendary, “Rendevous with Destiny” speech to a national TV audience in support of Goldwater and that led to the establishment of the popular actor and TV host into a national political force that began in earnest with his election as Governor of California in 1966 and his election as President in 1980, following through on the Goldwater movement. Barry, Jr. was elected to the United States Congress in 1968, joining his father in the halls of congress. Goldwater, Jr. was a popular congressman, winning re-election to 5 consecutive terms (10 years).

Since retiring from Congress, Goldwater, Jr. has stumped the nation promoting the conservative cause established by his late father. The event will be held at the Rosen Centre hotel on International Drive on Thursday, August 27, 2015 from 5-7 pm. It is open to public and tickets may be obtained at Event Brite and through clicking here”
