Top Records You Wish You Got at RSD15

And remember, just because Record Store Day is over this year, doesn’t mean that there aren’t plenty of albums coming out year round.

Record Store Day this year was a bit on the muggy and miserable side, weather wise. But that only made the sweet relief of Park Ave CD’s air conditioned record haven that much sweeter. RSD is always a little bitter sweet, though. Sure, it’s a wonderful celebration of art and musical collections and the genuine joy of physical, tangible albums. It’s also a heartbreaking reminder of the reality of first come first served. It can’t be helped. With any limited pressing the opportunity to obtain them is, likewise, limited. (BOOOOOOOO.)

That being said (written?…read?.. enh), I surveyed the patient and sweaty supporters waiting in line to see what they were hoping to get.

Here are the some of the top wanted items at this years record store day –

    1. Foo Fighters – Songs From The Laundry Room (10”)

    2. Brand New – Deja Entendu (2 x 12”)

    3. The White Stripes – Get Behind Me Satan (2 x 12”, colored vinyl)

    4. Father John Misty – “I Love You Honey Bear” (red, heart shaped 7”)

    5. Darjeeling Limited OST (12” colored vinyl)

I was lucky enough to score a copy of Get Behind Me Satan (there was one more when I left Park Ave…) , but like many I spoke to, I’m pissed about never being able to obtain a fucking Brand New vinyl. Or concert ticket. …Damn it.

OH WELL. I’m just going to whine about it now, and scour ebay later. Happy spinning, kids.

And remember, just because Record Store Day is over this year, doesn’t mean that there aren’t plenty of albums coming out year round, so stop by Park Ave when it’s not swarmed with people. (Plus, there’s always a few things left over from RSD, you never know what you might find.)
