Electric Forest Lineup Drops The Bass, Not The Ball

    It’s Electric, Boogie Woogie Woogie!
    (You gotta feel it!)

    When thinking of summer fun, minds don’t ordinarily wander to thoughts of Michigan: I’m here to tell you that they should, especially if said minds want bass in their face. Hidden in Rothbury, Michigan lies a mesmerizing light-up forest that would make Alice question Wonderland. Boasting the biggest, baddest names in electronic, jam, and experimental music, Electric Forest is a fast-spreading secret that everyone wants to attend.

    Last year’s lineup consisted of String Cheese Incident, Steve Angello, STS9, Zedd, Ms. Lauryn Hill, cut/copy, Flying Lotus, The Glitch Mob, Zeds Dead, and other big hitters! Regardless of how good that roster was, it lacked some of the DJs and groups that have become household names for dubstep, house, and other variations of electronic music. I’ve had my fingers crossed all year that they would be able to pack an even harder punch than last year; the lineup release doesn’t dissapoint for a second:

    Oh. My. GOD. YES! This is the lineup Electric Forest was born to have! Not one, but three sets of funky jammers String Cheese Incident! Skrillex and Bassnectar, The godfathers of beat-drops, will be shaking the leaves off the trees in the forest. Electronica/trip-hop forerunners Flume will be blasting too, along with progressive house hero Kaskade. Joining them as headliners are the dynamic drum and sax electronic duo Big Gigantic, who has been an unstoppable force of growth for the last few years. There are literally too many amazing artists to break down and explain, so allow me to give you this list of must-sees:

    * Break Science

    * Carnage

    * Datsik

    * Yonder Mountain String Band

    * Flux Pavillion

    * Delta Spirit

    * Black Tiger Sex Machine

    * Dopapod

    * Sphongle (Simon Posford DJ Set)

    * Exmag

    * Galactic with Macy Gray

    * Mako

    * Phantogram

    * Gramatik

    * Peking Duk

    * Lettuce

    * Joe Russo’s Almost Dead

    * Preservation Hall Jazz Band

    * The Accidentals

    I think this rating pretty much goes without saying. On the Croix Scale from Bad to Bad-Ass, Electric Forest 2015 is obviously:

    Overall: Bad-Ass!

    Make your way to the forest in Michigan late this June, and come back home without your eardrums. Who needs ’em, anyway? Big ups to Electric Forest this year! When your lineup experiences creative growth from year to year like this, there’s no way you’re not going to offer up a bad-ass festival experience for electronic lovers.
