Old Sweetwater, Keep On Rollin’
(Mississippi moon, won’t you keep on shinin’ on me)

… Get it?
What better way to celebrate 420 than with a crazy eclectic music festival in the middle of Centennial Olympic Park, Georgia? No better way! Sweetwater 420 Fest is an amazing, and amazingly inexpensive, music festival that has delivered some solid weekend experiences. For a 3-day pass you only drop $55 right now, so get ‘em while they’re hot! …But not until you check out this year’s lineup. Last year’s lineup saw Sublime With Rome, Steel Pulse, Galactic, G. Love And The Special Sauce, Dirty Heads, Conspirator, Anders Osborne, Pretty Lights, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Archnemesis, and more! That’s a pretty good lineup, but let’s see if we can kick it up a notch with this year’s lineup. Who do we got?
One word: sweeeeet. What a bad-ass lineup! Hip hop godfather Snopp Dogg/Lion/Bamboo/Theory will be headlining; rightly so when your festival is honoring the green. Followed by none other than 311, the alt-rock/reggae/rap fusion band that we all grew up with who, surprise, also love the green! Seriously, they have such a fun discography that exemplifies real musical growth over time. They went from rowdy young boys to rowdy young men who grew in style and lyricism. Shoutout to 311: PLEASE play “Six” live! I digress. Downtempo electronica artists Thievery Corporation will also put on a good show for the green theme… You get the picture. It’s a chill time with chill bands. Until you see Primus and Cage The Elephant on the lineup! They are wild, unique, bands with versatile sounds who put on psychotic stage performances. Especially Cage The Elephant’s front man: I’ve watched him climb up the tech booths, crowd surf people while screaming The Beatles lyrics, and throwing himself all over the place. Don’t miss them for sure! If you’ve read any of my other articles, you know that Slightly Stoopid is known for amazing beach rock guitar skills. They are crazy good (and love grass too, but you already knew that). Moe. Is funky and fun, and I’m glad to see them on the roster for this. Gov’t Mule is always a crowd favorite as well with their southern rock flair. Beats Antique and Big Data will put on good electronic shows, and The Wailers will hold down the reggae fort with their beautiful classic harmonies and deep souls.
Sounds like Atlanta’s gonna be rocking and swaying this April. Are you feeling good vibes about this lineup? On the Croix Scale from Bad to Bad-Ass, it’s feeling:
Overall: Sweet
