The state DHSMV has just issued an advisory to all Florida tax collectors stating that the department will recognize same-sex marriage certificates.

Late last week, Orange County Tax Collector Scott Randolph announced that his office would accept same-sex marraige certificates from Florida and other states for drivers license updates, and late Monday afternoon – the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles informed tax collectors accross the state that it would accept the certificates as well.
Local government attorney Wade Vose of Winter Park argued that based on Judge Hinkle’s ruling, Randolph was on firm footing to accept the certificates – and now it seems the state DHSMV agrees.
Former Congressman turned lobbyist Mark Foley was excited to hear about the memo and is looking forward to marriage equality for all Floridians. “The constitution assures equal protection under the law and finally our state will adhere to that historic provision. It appears the DHSMV and Tallahassee are willing to immediately & fully support the federal courts ruling.” Foley is now lobbying for the Washington Nationals.
“I applaud the DHSMV that agreed that all local and state officials should recognize same sex marriages around the state,” said Randolph. Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer will officiate over a massive same-sex marriage ceremony tomorrow 9AM at City Hall.
