Following Sean Ashby’s withdrawal from the Orange County Commission race in District 4, East Orlando Post can confirm that Hispanic lawyer Euri Cerrud has filed as a candidate of the democratic party with the Orange County Supervisor of Elections in that same race earlier this afternoon.
Cerrud, a fixture in the Hispanic community who has been approached to run for the county commission for several years, is expected to run a well funded campaign campaign due to his many professional connections as a local attorney and as a board member of several local organizations.
A campaign operative close to Ashby said that he expects the former candidate to formally announce his support of Cerrud in the coming days.
Ashby, who was well liked by the rank and file as well as the power brokers of local liberal leaning groups, is expected to announce a new role within the local scene in the coming weeks. Stay tuned to the East Orlando Post for that story.
