Several months ago, we wrote about local film maker and UCF student Jason Jack Underwood seeking funding for his upcoming film, Half Awake. On Sunday, Underwood announced via his Half Awake facebook page that his Kickstarter campaign had successfully been funded….and even exceeded it’s goal by 45%.

Underwood emailed the following quote to the East Orlando Post following a request for comment.

“I always try to maintain a healthy level of optimism when taking on a new project, while still remaining rather realistic and practical, especially when dealing with something that relies on so many uncontrollable forces. This was my first attempt at crowd funding, and we are so pleased with the results. Making and exceeding our goal has been such a spirit lifter, and I am really looking forward to making all those who donated proud.”

Underwood, who has a background in professional photography has said that he plans to launch another Kickstarter campaign to fund his next film, which he is currently in the process of writing.
