Val Demings “Seriously Considering” Mayoral Run. Come On Val, We Know You Want It

    By Jacob Engels

Several weeks ago, we reported that Val Demings was going to run for Mayor of Orange County….and that a decision would be made around July 15th, give or take a few days. Local democratic activist and one time Orange County Democratic Party Chair Doug Head was not convinced. Actually, he pretty much accused us of false and baseless reporting —

“This is just false and stupid journalism; the reporter is talking nonsense.”  (We love you too Doug)

Well, lo and behold…..the Orlando Sentinel is reporting that Val Demings texted this in response to a question about her intentions in the mayoral race following the release of Teresa Jacob’s first quarter fundraising totals —

“I am seriously considering this race,” Demings said by text Wednesday. “Not prepared to say more than that at this point.”

She may run…..she may not. But, the state democratic party saw fit to give her a coveted speaking slot at their largest annual event, while snubbing their only announced democratic candidate for governor, Nan Rich. Now, Val says she is seroiusly considering the race……sounds like a candidate to me.

SIDE NOTE – Democratic sources say that the sense is Val’s announcement of her intentions is taking a little longer than expected, but that she will be making an “announcement” SOON.

One thing is for sure, voters would benefit from having a serious and able campaigner like Val Demings in the race. Come on Val, 2014 is looking pretty sleepy so far…..give Teresa Jacobs a run for her “money.”
