Tell us about the play –

The Wizard of Oz is a colorful and fun muiscal based on the classic book by L. Frank Baum, which was originally published in 1900. The musical opened on Broadway in 1905 followed by the extremely popular movie version in1939. The Wizard of Oz follows Dorothy on her adventures to find her place in life. On the way she meets many interesting characters including the Wicked Witch of the West, Glinda the Good Witch of the North and the Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

How long have you been working on it?

Our open auditions were held in September. Our cast of 60 ages 7 – adult have been rehearsing twice a week and working very hard to bring our community a wonderful play.

Aside from the play, what goes on behind the scenes before and during the shows?

We have many volunteers working behind the scenes on the set, props and technical aspects of the musical. Our amazing music director Jordan Thornton and choreographer Cassidy Tompkins work with the director putting in many hours to ensure that everyone moves and sounds great on stage. Our concession team transforms the lobby of Timber Creek into the Emerald City so the magic begins as soon as you enter the theater.
