Just under an hour ago several East Orlando Post readers called in and informed us that portions of the Waterford Lake Town Center were being evacuated due to a suspicous package that was found behind the Best Buy. The Orange County Sheriff’s office has confirmed that the bomb squad has found an unidentified black cannister and an unidentifed black backpack that was left leaning against a deputys patrol car.
WESH is reporting that in addition to several business in the town center being evacuated, a childrens pre-school and a nearby apartment building has also been evacuated.
Updates to the story will be made throughout the day, so stay tuned.
UPDATE #1 – Orange County Mayor Jacobs is telling the Orlando Sentinel that they think at least one of the devices is a grenade.
UPDATE #2 – Officials are now saying at least 4 devices have been found straegically placed around the Waterford Lakes Town Center
Update #3 – Orange County Sheriff’s Office PIO Jane Watrel says all devices have been rendered safe and no suspects at this point. Waterford Lakes Town Center is open for business again.
