Local Business Owners Give Orange County Academy Students VIP Treatment

Over the past two years, Jennifer Campos of Avalon & Waterford All Star Cuts has been leading the charge to give the students of Orange County Academy a VIP treatment every six weeks. Since starting then, Campos has coordinated with several other local business owners to expand the VIP treatment for the students. Jennifer Campos and Timothy McKinney, who is the Executive Vice President of United Global Outreach, which oversees Orange County Academy, share more about the VIP treatment below —

Jennifer Campos, Owner of Avalon & Waterford All Star Cuts —

As we come to a close on the 2nd year of doing our Free Haircut event, we are more excited than ever to see the growth with the school and with the students. Our first year, the school had under 30 kids and now they are up to 40+ students that come to Avalon All Star Cuts for haircuts every 6 to 8 weeks. It is great to get to know the students by name and they are so much more comfortable getting their haircuts and really look forward to a day out in Avalon. Our staff is very welcoming to the students and this is a way for them to use their talents to benefit others in a tangible way to make a difference.

Our efforts could not be done without the collaboration of other local businesses that donate their time and services to the kids. Primrose School of Avalon Park donates their bus to drive the kids to and from Avalon Park. Brianto’s Original Hoagies donates lunch and Championship Martial Arts Avalon Park donates an instructor so that each students gets a free karate lesson. This year a new business came on board, Yoga East Avalon, and the older girls get to enjoy yoga. For many, this is the first time they have ever tried yoga.

Seeing the happy faces and how the kids feel great after their haircuts is what it is all about

Timothy McKinney, Executive Vice President of United Global Outreach –

“I am never surprised but always amazed at how fantastic the people and business’ of Avalon Park are to host Orange County Academy students every 6 weeks. To expose them to karate, yoga, first class treatment with haircuts and styling and a great lunch just reinforces what we tell the students every day, “you are a VIP” and that they can be or do anything. I pray our students, above all else, develop such loving and giving hearts as they have experienced and seen today.”

Soon, we will reach out to the other business owners and get a quote from them as well. Stay tuned.
