On the heels of two explosions at the Boston Marathon, East Orlando is having a bomb scare of its own.
Just under an hour ago a suspicious package was reportedly placed near a gas pump at the BP gas station on the corner of East Colonial and Bonneville in East Orlando. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has cordoned off the BP gas station as well as the entrance to the Aristocrat Volkswagen dealership. OCSO is using the entry road to Aristocrat Volkswagen as a staging area to investigate the package.
A spokeswoman for the Orange County Sheriffs Office confirmed that a piece of unattended luggage or baggage was found placed near a gas pump. As soon as it was discovered, the Orange County Bomb Squad along with the Orange County Sheriffs Office was dispatched to investigate the matter. We will update you as more details become available.
UPDATE – Local 6 is confirming that the package has been cleared and the roads have been reopened
